A balanced blend of selected powders to polish all geological and commercial granites as well as many marbles. Its polishing action is so powerful that most granite can be effectively polished right after 400 grit! MB-16 is an amazing performer that polishes to a deep gloss all mercantile granites right after a 400 grit honing cut. Also works great on marbles that are too sensitive (or insensitive) to acid-based polishing powders. *Depending on make and type of diamond pads, machine and time spent on each honing grit.
DIRECTIONS: the following are AVERAGE directions. Different stones may require different techniques. If in doubt, don’t hesitate contacting us.
1. Prepare the surface to be polished by honing it to a 400 grit or higher.
2. Protect surfaces that could be damaged by splatters with proper masking material.
3. FLOORS: Target an area approximately 10-12 sq. ft. and sprinkle a couple of heaping tablespoons of MB-16 on the middle of it, possibly in a circular pattern slightly narrower than the diameter of the floor machine. Using a squirt or spray bottle soak the powder completely. Position a “hogs-hair” pad on top of the wet powder and floor machine on top of it. (A red nylon pad would work well, too). The machine cannot exceed 250 RPM for best results, and needs at least 1.5 HP. If the machine has a speed higher than 175 RPM, more water will be necessary. Swiftly swing the machine back and forth over the targeted area (to evenly spread the slurry), then polish slowly with a spiral motion moving from one end of the targeted area to the other and back, until the slurry dries and the stone surface becomes shiny. The first area will probably need to be done a couple of times for proper pad build-up. We suggest not exceeding 100 sq. ft. with one side of the pad. After that, flip the pad over and go another 100 sq. ft. or so (hogs-hair pads can be hosed off a couple of times and reused, before disposal).
4. TOPS: Target an area of approximately 2 to 3 sq. ft. Sprinkle a little MB-16 on the surface to be polished in a circular pattern to be narrower than the polishing pad to be used. Spray a mist of water on the powder to completely soak it and a little bit over the rest of the targeted area. Set the speed of the right-angle grinder/polisher (variable speed is a MUST) at 2500 RPM. Position a white or red nylon pad. Controlling the speed with the trigger and applying as much pressure as the machine can take; start spreading the slurry over the targeted area keeping a very low RPM, until it’s almost dry. Pull the trigger all the way while gradually lightening the pressure and buff to a shine while moving the machine swiftly over the targeted area.
COVERAGE: Depending on the type of stone, expect coverage of approx. 300-600 sq. ft. per pound. For routine maintenance use exclusively MB Products. See us at www.mbstonepro.com
