CA Glue Chip Repair Kit- The Ultimate Chip Repair Kit
1 (2 oz) bottle of Hot Stuff Thin
1 (2 oz) bottle of Special T Thick
4 (20mm) Hot Tips
1 (6 oz) NCF Stone
1 (20 grams) bottle of CA Glue Gel
Hot Stuff Thin (2 oz) CA Glue
Hot Stuff Original is a thin CA glue with a viscosity (3cps) similar to water and no surface tension. When you have parts that fit exactly together, first get them in position, then run this instant glue along the crack, and it will wick right in. If you have tight-fitting joints of non-porous material, Hot Stuff thin will give you the best results as it will not create any extra space between the pieces, and since you get the parts aligned before applying this instant glue, you can be sure they will be perfectly in place when the glue cures.
Hot Stuff Original is also ideal for filling and stopping the spread of splits and hairline cracks in furniture, gunstocks, wood being turned on a lathe (such as pen blanks), and stone. To strengthen stone and porous wood, apply Hot Stuff to the entire surface and allow it to soak into the pores and cracks- you can also use this instant glue on carbon fiber or fiberglass cloth instead of using resin! Hot Stuff CA glue will harden other types of cloth as well- in fact, professional dancers at top ballet companies use Hot Stuff to strengthen the material of their pointe shoes.
Curing time is three to five seconds between tightly fitting, non-porous parts. We recommend using NCF Quick accelerator to ensure a complete cure of the bond. Store unopened bottles in the freezer to extend shelf life. Bottles of which have been opened will experience a shorter shelf life if they are continually taken out of and put back into cold storage.
Special T Thick (2 oz) CA Glue
Special T THICK gap-filling CA glue (green label) has a viscosity (1150-1500) similar to honey. This super glue works great when you use it to bond both porous and non-porous parts, and it can fill larger gaps than our Super T medium CA glue. It is best used to glue parts that are missing pieces or don’t fit very well together. You can bond the same materials as with our other CA glue- wood, metal rubber, nitrile, composites, many types of plastics- and Special T is effective even when a poor fit makes parts look impossible to bond. The gap-filling capability is very useful when there is a large chunk missing from a surface- filling that space with Special T can preserve the structural integrity, seal the area from moisture and contaminants, bond something to the exterior that would not fit otherwise, cover and protect jagged edges, and improve the look of the surface.
If you have pieces that do fit well together, then this is the wrong CA glue to use, as it will create extra space in between the pieces. However, if you have a big chunk missing from a wood or stone surface that you need to fill in, or if you are gluing poorly-fitting materials, this is the best instant glue to use. It is also our easiest CA glue to use because Special T doesn’t require a good fit and because the high viscosity makes it run much less than our thinner instant glues. Special T cures slower than our other CA glues (roughly 20 seconds with accelerator and 60 seconds without accelerator when pressed firmly between two parts), so you also have more time to assemble your pieces.
Special T CA glue is used for woodworking-related repair and assembly, setting stones and attaching beads, repairing damaged areas in granite countertops, attaching tips to pool cues, gluing finger inserts into bowling balls, repairing damaged model airplanes and cars, assembling bone fragments, putting together and repairing dental bridges and dentures, and countless other applications.
We recommend using the NCF Quick CA glue accelerator to speed up the cure time and ensure a complete cure of the bond. This is especially important with Special T CA glue because of its slower curing time relative to Hot Stuff and Super T and also because if Special T is being used for gap-filling and is not subjected to firm pressure between two parts, it will likely take at least a few hours to cure without accelerator.
When filling gaps, it is always best to apply one layer of glue and cure it with NCF Quick accelerator before applying the next layer. Filling a large gap without curing each layer will result in a delay or failure in the curing of the bottom layers. Don’t be afraid to overfill a gap- you can easily remove the excess with a razor blade after it is cured or sand it down if necessary.
Store unopened bottles in the freezer to extend shelf life. Bottles of super glue (any brand) which have been opened will experience a shorter shelf life if they are continually taken out of and put back into cold storage. Shelf life is 6 months for 1/4oz, 9 months for 1/2oz, and 1 year for 1, 2, and 4oz bottles.
Hot Tips 4 (20mm)
Hot Tips are the replacement spouts and overcaps for 1oz, 2oz, and 4oz bottles of Hot Stuff Original thin CA glue, Super T medium gap-filling CA glue, and Special T thick ultra gap-filling CA glue.
NCF Stone (Quick Accelerator) 6 oz
NCF Stone is designed to be used specifically with natural stone such as granite and marble, especially light-colored varieties of granite which are prone to discoloration when too much of our NCF Quick is used. We have tested this product on a variety of these sensitive granite types, and they did not discolor even when completely soaked with NCF Stone. However, NCF Stone should still be applied as a light mist- if the parts are becoming visibly wet, you are applying too much.
We recommend using NCF Stone with all granite and marble, but especially with light-colored stones that may discolor with NCF Quick. It is a more expensive product per ounce than NCF Quick, but you do not have to worry about potential discoloration. There is no benefit to using this accelerator on stone types besides granite and marble, so we recommend using NCF Quick for other stone types.
NCF Stone comes in a 6oz aerosol can. This accelerator is active for several minutes, so you can spray several pieces at once if you are making multiple bonds.
