Reviews

MB-20® Granite Polish is an exclusive proprietary blend of abrasives and polishing agents that represents an industry-first and definite breakthrough for polishing granite, mercantile granite, and serpentines.

Also works on serpentinites, ophicalcites, and engineered surfaces. MB-20® Granite Polish can be tinted to match any color surface by using powder or liquid tints. If using MB-20® on darker granite, we recommend tinting the paste before polishing. Recommended pads to use with the MB-20® can be found here: Hogs Hair Pad or White Polishing Pad.

  • Available in 8.5 oz. or 2.2 lbs sizes.
  • Approximate coverage for one 2.2 lb tub is 400-800 sq ft.
  • Approximate coverage for one 8.5 oz is 200 sq ft.
  • Once pad becomes saturated, the coverage increases.
  • Also available in case quantities. Call 888-509-5831 for case pricing.

Important:

  • Always make sure to mask off and protect surfaces that could be splattered by product.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
  • Make sure the surface is free of any coatings, waxes, sealers, grease and/or soil.
  • If the surface requires honing, use quality diamonds and hone surface to at least 1000 grit or higher, predicated upon the clarity of the stone being worked on.

**Directions may vary depending on the stone you are working on.

How to Use MB-20® Granite Polish

Countertops

  • For best results use a right-angle polisher (variable speed) with 5 or 7-inch pad driver and hogs hair pad. Set speed to 3 or midway.
  • Start by targeting a two square-foot area. Place 1 teaspoon of product in the center of the area then position your machine and hogs hair pad directly on top of it.
  • You can add a spritz of water if the product has become dry.
  • Slowly, spread the product out, controlling the trigger, while applying pressure to dry the product out. When the product is almost dry, begin to increase the speed and decrease the pressure
  • At this point, there should be no splatters. Pull the trigger for max speed, and run the product dry while moving the machine swiftly over the target area. The use of pressure will vary depending on the stone.
  • Check the results and repeat if needed. If any swirls or marks appear it is because too much product was used. Remove the marks using a white pad with a mist of water, or if they become stubborn, use any polishing compound (we suggest tin oxide). Adjust the amount of product you are using and continue.

Floors

  • Target an area of approximately 8-10 square feet. Place 2 tablespoons of product in the center and mist with water - just enough to form a semi-thick slurry to avoid splatters.
  • Place your floor machine with a hogs hair pad on top of the product and begin to spread it out over the target area.
  • Work the product until the slurry dries out, and the stone becomes shiny. At approximately every 200 square feet the pad should be loaded with product and will need to be flipped or changed.
  • Use a floor machine that is over 1.5 HP and weight of 135 lbs for best results. When the product dries and begins to polish, a lighter machine may bog down and trip the electrical breaker. In this case, it is possible to polish the floor using a wet polishing method.

Granite Polish FAQs

How do you get granite to shine again?

Granite countertops lose their shine over time due to various factors such as improper cleaning and hard water deposits. To restore the shine to granite countertops professionally, it is recommended to use a high-quality granite polishing compound.

Professional products like our MB-20® Granite Polish can effectively rejuvenate the surface, providing a polished and lustrous finish.

Can you polish granite yourself?

It is doable but not recommended. For reliable and effective results it is advisable to use professional products specifically designed for this purpose. Utilizing a variable-speed polisher grinder with different grit polishing pads and applying a professional-grade granite polishing compound, such as MB-20®, can achieve superior results.

Will baking soda polish granite?

For professional-grade results, it is recommended to avoid relying on household remedies such as baking soda. Instead, opt for dedicated granite polishing compounds like MB-20® that are formulated specifically for polishing granite.

Using baking soda may not provide the desired level of effectiveness and longevity compared to professional products. Dedicated products also ensure a thorough and reliable restoration of shine without compromising the integrity of the granite surface.
